I have lots of containers of Acrylic paints sitting in the cupboard so I thought I would pull some out to create an abstract background. I dropped a little paint and grabbed an old Pet Smart loyalty card and started spreading the paint around. Don't worry the dogs will still get their treats, I'm not sure why they give us cards they have our email and phone number, perhaps it's so we all have paint spreaders 😏.
I used blues, taupe and brown for the base colours, so once the acrylic paint dried I blended some Tea Dye distress ink over the white areas. I then tore the lower edge and blended the torn edge and re-attached the tear to give some interest.
I stamped the image using Versafine Clair and embossed with clear embossing powder.
I used the following stamps from Magenta
Distressed Background Text
Nigella
I'm entering this for the following challenges-

Paper: 110lb white, Mixed Media

Love, love, love that background! The distressed text stamp is so perfect on this! I'd have never thought to apply paint this way so thank you for detailing your process. This is fabulous, a style I love and one that I struggle with.
I like the combo of acrylic paints and watercolor! Sometimes I'll drizzle or splatter white, but it's the only color I have. Your stamping came out very clear and crisp. Love the way you did the tear, too. Looks awesome, Christine!
Brilliant background Christine, lovely colours and unusual but lovely stamp.x
Love your artsy acrylic paint spread around with your plastic card. Your stamped text and Nigella look great on your cool background. TFS Christine. Hugs...Nancy
I have a little stack of expired credit cards in my craft room - time I put them to use! Love your background with the text and acrylic paint. Perfect for the nigella plant!
I'm sure that's why Pet Smart gave you that card Christine. It makes the perfect spreader for your acrylic paint! :) LOVE the colours and your artsy design with the text background and torn edge. Fantastic mixed media card, my friend! xx

So maybe that’s why I kept used up gift cards... to spread paint! 😂 Amazing dimensions and textures. A wonderful artsy mixed media card. xx

Great background and colours, and your stamping is so crisp (stamping is NOT my talent, so I always admire a job so well-done!) Glad you joined the Creative Artist Mixed Media challenge this month!
Another artistic background. Perfect for this stamp. Great contrast.
xx
