CAS Christmas November Mid month Reminder

It's time for CAS Christmas card Challenge mid month reminder which means November is flying by and we just have a few more weeks to make Christmas cards.
Come joinour Guest Designer is Pam from Expressions with Heart and the Design team in making some Santa cards.

You have until November 24th to enter the challenge, just remember to check out the challenge rules before you enter.

For my card I used one of the new Paper Artsy (JOFY) stamp sets. I stamped the Santa using Black Versafine Clair on watercolour card and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I watercoloured him and then fussy cut the image.
I used a black pen to run around the edge, this hides any slight miss cuts. I also used an embossing tool and run it along the edge of the image to give it a 3D effect. I used a Nuvo sparkle pen to make his outfit a little more festive and a liquid chrome pen for his laces.
As the image is quite large I used a 5X7 card base, therefore making it a little more CAS than if I'd used a 41/4 X 51/2.

Christmas Poinsettia

I just love this little poinsettia stamp from Recollections.  It comes with the die so that's a bonus and the die cuts really close.  For this card I didn't use the die but I did use the sentiment and border stamp

I stamped the image is Pink Pirouette and watercoloured the image,  Once I finished the watercolouring I used Ancient Page (Flamingo) waterproof to re-stamp the outline.  I used perfect pearls for the stamens at the centre.  The whole image was layered on black with a thin outline for the border,

Gelli print backgrounds

A few days ago Susan (AKA susanbri splitcoast stampers) and I got together to play with some gelli prints, it's a pretty messy process but fun none the less 😀
I made 4 or 5 backgrounds for future use but did manage to take the one with my favorite colours and create a mixed media background to use on some cards.

I took the gelli print and added some gold Viva Decor 3D stamp paint and sponged over a leaf stencil.  The gold has more of a green hue because of the blues, I also stenciled using black embossing paste to give it a little more pop.  The sprig of berries is from the Tim Holtz winter greenery die cut set.  I love the abstract art look of the background and am pretty happy with the final result.  I made four cards in total but have just posted two here.

I'm entering these for

Welcome to my Blog

I'm so excited to have my blog up and running, although I don't think it would have happened without the expert help of my friend Loll Thompson of Stamping with Loll.  Loll has become a whiz with blogs and has an amazing eye for detail   So thank you Loll for your encouragement and help.

Here goes for my first card post on It's a card days night

Sunday Loll, Susan and got together for our monthly craft days.  We usually spend the day checking out new (to us) techniques, and by the end of the day we all have a number of backgrounds that can be used for future cards or as technique pages.  This weekend we worked with alcohol inks on Yupo, the inks blends to create such pretty patterns.

I used a few blue alcohol inks and a touch of silver., and then added a little blending solution.  I loved the effect and thought it would look great as the centre piece for the Sizzix tree set.  I had enough Yupo  to make two cards. the second one has an inlaid die with Sookwang tape on the back, I used  ultra-fine glitter over the Sookwang.  It is hard to see but I layered 2 of the die cuts and placed them on the white.
