What a beautiful fall Vancouver is getting

Hi everyone, I think I missed the reminder about the end of the summer, here in Vancouver the sun won't go away, can you believe it in October it's still sunny.  I was in the UK recently and it was they typical rain, sun , and wind.  Good Welsh weather 😉
To honor the end of summer and the gentle slide into fall I have created a fall leaf watercolour card.
I stamped the leaf using Ranger Archival potting soil then pulled out my elegant writer and drew over some of the lines of the leaf, then with a watercolour brush I pulled the ink into the leaf. The black elegant writer ink separates into browns and blues when water is added. The background is Distress oxide inks on an acrylic block spritzed with water, the block was then placed on Hot press watercolour paper and weighted down to allow the colour to absorb.  I popped up the watercolour background with foam to give it a little dimension.

Shake shake it like a salt shaker

It's time for August's CAS Watercolou challenger, so pull out your salt shakers and join in.
If you have never tried salted water colour this is a must do technique.  Check out the CAS Watercolour blog for links to see how it's done.
For my card I used 3 colours of Distress  Oxide Inks on an acrylic block being careful not to contaminate the ink pad too much.  If you do have a slight contamination of colours you can wipe it off with a clean piece of kitchen roll or baby wipe.   I then spritzed with water and placed on my watercolour paper.  I lifted the block and the watercolour mixed in a puddle of water and ink, so awesome 😏  I sprinkled regular kitchen salt over the paper and you can see where the colours merged I got a great crystal effect from the dried salt,
Course and fine salt give different effects, try both and you will love all the different backgrounds you make.
This background made me think sand and sea so I decided to use my new seahorse from technique junkies and used my zig watercolour pens to colour it in.

Tissue paper play 👍

I was so happy to see CAS Mix up was playing with Tissue Paper for this months challenge, I just couldn't resist pulling out some of my previously played with tissue paper.
A while back I tried geli printing with tissue paper, the prints were in my stash for a few months so it was a great time to pull them out.  I also thought I would play along with the CAS Watercolour challenge and make my tissue paper into a butterfly, Snippets Playground with my snippet of tissue paper
I die cut some white card stock with the tissue paper stuck to it with the solid portion of the Stamplorations Butterfly and then cut the top layer of the butterfly in white, IRL  you can see the gold and blue of the geli print background peaking through.
My background is an old technique revisited, "Block Watercolour Stamping", check out the turtorial Jennifer McGuire posted today.
 One thing I learned put a weight on the block to allow the colour to soak into the watercolour paper.

I love that irregular edge where the colour hasn't soaked into the paper.

Here is my swatch of Geli print, there's lots left for other projects, don't you love that 😅
