Group of Seven Cardmakers - Generation Stamping

Hi everyone, it's time for the Group of Seven Cardmakers technique. This month we are using generation stamping. This is a great technique to add depth to your cards and also create different shades of colours from one ink pad.

One thing you have to remember if you first stamp partially off the card the inked area will now be uneven and have a noticeable ink line will appear. You can see the line on the second stamped image and the rubber stamp. It is better to stamp off the first ink on scrap paper then stamp on your card.

Card 1- I used Lavinia stamps and second and third generation stamping. It can actually give your image a little movement, the bird has first, second and a very faint third generation stamping and I lightened the colouring as I went along. The background has lots of second a third generation stamping to add depth and lighter colours. To finish the card off I went around the edge with a Gold Pen to create a faux mat.

Card 2- Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous images. I stamped my first image high on the page and each time I stamped again I moved it down. You can see the Queen Anne's Lace get lighter and lighter, I also stamped the numbers a second time. I also finished the card by going around the edge with a Blue metallic pen to create a faux mat.

Group of Seven Crafters - Glitter Painting on Acetate

Hi Everyone, it's time for the Group of Seven Crafters monthly technique. This month we are play with glitter on acetate. Yes we all have a few containers in the craft room that haven't seen the light of day in years. It makes some of the most beautiful cards but we all tend to avoid using it because of the clean up and having to wear it for the next few days 😀

1) How to use Thermo Acetate with Glitter by tjaniga (9:41).  ***  You only need heat-proof acetate if you are heat embossing your line image.  Otherwise, stamp in archival or permanent ink, flip acetate over, and add glue and glitter to back of image.

2) Glittery Acetate Cards by Crafi Potential (13:03).  This version uses frames dies with acetate, glitter & glue.  You can use regular acetate for this technique but heat emboss very carefully

Card 1 - Heat embossed image on acetate using Versafine Clair ink and clear Embossing powder, Magenta stamps. 

Card 2 - Die cut backed with acetate and glitter poured in the cutouts. Die Cut  Sizzix by Tim Holtz, Sentiment Stampers Anonymous by Tim Holtz.

Group of Seven Card makers - Stencil Monoprint

Hi everyone, it's time for the Group of Seven Cardmakers Monthly Technique. This month we are doing some Stencil Monoprints an old but fun technique.

Lee-Anne Cross created this video for Split coast stampers which explains how to create a stencil mono print if you have never done one before.

It's an old but fun technique which can be done by smooshing ink pads over a stencil or sprinkling powdered inks and spritzing with water then placing the inked side on card. To mop up the excess water place a piece of kitchen roll over the stencil.

Just a note when using stencils with words or numbers to check the inked side to make sure they are the correct way round and not mirror imaged. The ink goes on the back when you read the letters or numbers.

Group of Seven Cardmakers - Elegant writer

Hi everyone, the Group of Seven Cardmakers are playing with our Black Elegant Writer. This is a wonderful pen which has a calligraphy nib and beautiful colours when water is added to it.

The pens come in different nib sizes, I have 1.3mm Extra fine and 2.5mm Med. I.5mm use my fine tip to outline stamps on the paper and the 2.5mm when outlining directly on the stamp (the ink can stain your stamps).

Personally I like to add the colour to the stamp after using another colour to define the image, this way it keeps to the line thickness fairly narrow and you don't get a huge flow of colour when you add water.

There are other colours (Red, Green, Blue and Brown) but they don't break down into different colous the way the black does.

Once I have watercoloured my image pulling the elegant writer colour into the image I sometimes place it back in the stamp platform and re stamp it to give some definition to the outline.

Card 1- Stampers Anonymous poinsettia and script, BetterPress sentiment. I used a brush and water to draw the colour into the Poinsettia.

Card 2 Penny black stamp (Christmas Blush), BetterPress Sentiment. I used a brush and water to move the colour from the Elegant writer, when it was dry I watercoloured the flower with pealised watercolours.

Card 3 Penny Black Feathered Friends, Stampers Anonymous sentiment. I used a brush with water to pull the colour from the Elegant writer, when it was dry I watercoloured the Robin.

Crafting Day with Loll

Hi Everyone, Loll and I got together at the weekend for a fun day of crafting. 

We decided to play with our embossing glazes of which we both had lots but found we weren't using them.

The glazes are coloured but translucent so pick up the colour of the background. You can see this best in my first card. I chose the glaze in the same colour family as the  the blended colour on the card, as the colours overlap they change slightly.

This was a very productive day for me as I added four cards to my stash three of which were Christmas (Yeah)

We also found more solid stamps for showing off the translucency of the embossed colour.

I splattered some water on the background before using the embossing glaze, I probably should have done a few more as you can see some of the really light splats peeking through on the glaze.

Cas Christmas Card Challenge - Winter Scene

Hi Everyone, it's my turn to host this months CAS Christmas card Challenge The team and I would love to see some winter scenes on your cards.

Please welcome to our Guest Designer Izzy (IzzyScrap).

For my winter scene I've used some Altenew wide (6.89" x 32.8') Washi tape (Watercolor Nebula) attached to card stock. I used an anti static powder then stamped the images with Versamark, then used detail white embossing powder and my heat gun. This was a great way to make quick cards to add to my stash. The Watercolor Nebula tape has a wonderful mix of reds, dark blues and greens to great these amazing backgrounds.

CAS Christmas Card Challenge - First Challenge of 2021

Hi Everyone, it's a New Year and and hopefully we will eradicate COVID (or at least have vaccinations for everyone) and make lots of Christmas cards😏

 

CAS Christmas Challenge kicks off the New Year with Julia our host asking us to bring out our Silhouettes stamps or dies and our Guest Designer this month is Pat (Colourful Card Creations), please stop by her blog and say Hi.

 

Here is my card for the Challenge, I stamped the Gentleman and sentiment in Versafine Claire and heat embossed with Clear Embossing powder. I used a Prima Gothic script stencil on the background with Distress Inks and Die cut the image with the Stamplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch die .

I always like to have a few Masculine cards available at Christmas.

CAS Christmas Ring the Bell for June

Hi Everyone, it's time for CAS Christmas Card Challenge. The theme for this month is Bells, Linda is our host and LeAnne is our Guest Designer.

For my card I kept it simple by stamping my background text in Versafine Clair and heat embossing with clear embossing powder then stamping my bells on watercolour paper and colouring with Fine Tec  Pearlescent watercolours (Ocean) and die cutting them. Once coloured I re stamped the image to sharpen the outline.

As my supplies were out I did a second card this time with Versafine Tulip.

I kept my card super CAS this month. I bought some hand made cotton rag paper when I was in the UK a few weeks ago and couldn't resist using it. The texture is so pretty.

CAS Watecolour Mid month reminder

Hi everyone, it's the middle of February and reminder time at CAS Watercolour so if you haven't headed over yet to check out all the wonderful cards you'll have so much fun.  Bonnie is our host for this month and Sue of Sue's Card Craft is our Guest Designer and of course there's the design team all with awesome inspiration.

Also I have some exciting news.  There's going to be a new Christmas Card challenge for everyone to play along with hosted by Loll and Bonnie.  I'm sure everyone will be looking forward to this one.

Now onto my card for this months CAS watercolour challenge card 😊

I found a little swatch of watercolour card with Distress oxide splatter on it in my UFO box.  It looked to pretty to throw away so I added a little more colour and stamped this scribble heart from one of the Stampers anonymous sets.  The heart is coloured using distress oxide inks then spritzed  with a mixture of water and perfect pearl.  I finally I added a few blue gems I found at the dollar store.

Then a bit of an oops, I made the typical mistake of removing the stamp from my MISTI before I was done. Distress oxides give a chalky effect on the surface which I wanted to brighten after I watercoloured, so I used a blue pen to re-outline the heart. It's a scribble heart so I thought it would be OK.  Note to self should leave my stamps in until I'm completely done 😊

You can't really see the shimmer but it's there IRL.
