CAS Christmas Mid Month Reminder

Hi Everyone, it's time for CAS Christmas mid month reminder and the team is hoping to inspire you into joining in. It's my turn to host this month, and the theme is Christmas birds so pull out those bird stamps and come play along with us.

For my card I stamped the image in Distress ink using my MISTI.
I water coloured the leaves in two shades of green Distress inks and coloured the berries in red using a SU Real Red pen.then heat set the image.
I stamped the two birds and coloured them both using distress inks, then put the image back in the  MISTI and re-stamped the wreath to crisp up the edges.

Here is a close up of the wreath and the little Robins and the drops of liquid glaze as water drops on the wreath

Thank you for dropping by and I always love to hear from you💖

Watercolouring a 3D Embossing Folder Image

Hi Everyone I'm a huge fan of Kath's Blog ... Diary of the Everyday Crafter.

Kath is an amazing artist and always provides so much inspiration. She recently used one of the newer Tim Holtz 3D embossing folders - a poinsettia and did 2 posts (Post 1 and Post 2), I couldn't resist giving it a go.

The background to the card is made by rubbing your ink pad over the negative (flat) surface of the embossing folder. Now this gave me a few problems and a few throw aways. When I re-read Kath's instructions she said to wipe the ink pad over the surface and then spritz with water, take your watercolour paper and spritz with water on both surfaces before sandwiching between the embossing folder surfaces. I brayered the ink over the embossing folder before I spritzed, I think this spread the ink out a little more evenly.

Here's my take on Kath's technique.

Card 1 has been water coloured with Viviva color sheets then I used Lyra coloured pencils to pick up the definition from the embossing. The centre of the flowers were dotted with liquid pearls

Card 2 I used Shadow Black watercolours (blue and green) for a more monotone effect and again used Lyra pencils to accentuate the embossed areas.

Card 3 I just added some Frantage Embossing Powder to the centre of the flowers using an Embossing pen then heated it from the back of the card.

I hope you have a chance to check  out Kath's blog and have a go at this technique it was a lot of fun.

New Watercolor Sheets on the Market

Hi Everyone I've been asked to review some new watercolour sheets on the market. I was so excited when Viviva contacted me to try out their colour sheets. Here is the card I made using these cool water color sheets, I snuck in a little Wink of Stella on the gnome's beard and the Jar of Milk or is that Baileys Irish Cream, looking at him I'm not sure 😏

So here is the low down 😊
Each booklet contains 16 different colours 2 per page all separated by a sheet of Velum. Ideally
leave the swatches dry before you close the book, but if not the velum will stop contamination of the colours.

The booklet has a small attachment for colour mixing which I really liked. I've wiped it a few times and the colour does come off. It's so nice to have your a little mixing palate attached to the booklet, that and its size (2 3/4 X 5 1/4 X 1/4 inches) makes it truly vacation worthy 😁
The booklet costs $26.62 CDN ($20 USD) so very affordable and can be purchased with or without a water brush.

peel back the strip and just align it on the back page.

Here are the 16  colours with a couple of them mixed to create new colours or shades of the original colour. I did think the dark pink was more of a red, so I used it on the gnomes hat. I don't know if they can add white but that would be one of my preferences. The swatches did make me think about colour mixing which is probably a good thing. we all want the spectrum of colours and shades rather than create the colours we need. If you look at  my card many of the colours have been mixed.

Here's a close up of the image.
