Eat Sleep Craft Repeat 2019

I've been at a wonderful week long crafty retreat with (from left to right) Me, Trina, Susan, Darnell, Colleen, Loll, Bonnie, Nancy and Linda in Crescent Beach just outside Vancouver. What an amazing group of women these are both talented and fun to spend time with.

Here's one of the technique I showed everyone at the Retreat - using gesso to watercolour on washi tape, I think everyone had fun trying it out.

The washi tape background which was kindly donated by Darnell, it's the extra wide washi tape. We adhered it to a large piece of card stock and primed it with white Gesso. The Gesso allows the surface to take water colour which without the Gesso watecolour would just bead and wipe off.

The image is one of the new Paper Artsy releases and a stamp set given to me by my sweet friend Nancy S. 😊

You can see the texture of the gesso on the washi tape. By the way you can use gesso on designer paper to mute the colours and give a subtle background.

Hi Everyone, I just got back from a wonderful Crafty Retreat arranged by Loll for a group of us to get together at a house in Crescent Beach BC.  Loll, Susan, Bonnie, Darnell, Trina, Nancy and myself were there for the week with a two night visit from Linda, Colleen and Nancy's daughter Jeani.  We also got to meet Maureen (Scrappymo/Rudolf days), Maureen came over for lunch on one of the days, it was so nice to meet her and spend some time chatting.

,

For my card I used a free bee stamp from a magazine and made a shaker card. I like to have a few shaker cards at Christmas for people I give cards to in person. I finder mailing gets a little expensive for these pretty cards 😊

I coloured the stocking using prismacolor pencils and watercoloured the background. the frame is from Your Next Stamp. I hope you like my little stocking and it inspires you to play along with us.

Stencilling your background background

I was rummaging through my stash of backgrounds and found a piece with some faux mother of pearl in blues and greens. I wanted to play along with CAS Stencil this month which is stencil over a coloured background.

I stamped the flowers directly on top of the stencilling and removed some of the colour with water and kitchen paper then watercoloured the flowers using watercoloured pencils.

I'm hoping my white frame makes this CAS enough for CAS Stencil 😓

I'm entering this for CAS Stencil

Graphite Transfer Debossing

I was over at Split coast Stampers checking out Lydia's graphite transfer with an embossing folder. To my surprise I had the tools to try the technique including the graphite paper, normally I have to head out and buy something that I don't have. I bought the graphite paper to mark on wood about 3 years ago and used the smallest piece you can imagine.

I placed the graphite paper graphite side down on the card, placed it in my embossing folder and ran it through my Cuttlebug. I then put some Distress Oxide inks on my craft mat  spritzed with water and picked up the colour on the card, the graphite creates a resist to the ink.
This is such a fun easy technique and I love the touches of graphite throughout the embossed image, it adds an aging effect.

My Rhino is a stamp from Rubber dance which is coloured using Prismacolor pencils.
