CAS Christmas Mid month reminder

It's time for our CAS Christmas Card Challenge mid month reminder, our theme for this month is Holly.  Remember it CAS, Christmas and Holly what more could you want.

For my card, I've watercoloured this pretty Chickadee on Holly from Impression Obsession.  After I watercoloured it, I masked and then splattered with black and stamped the sentiment in Ranger Archival Carnation Red.  I seem to be doing that a lot lately, I think it's because I picked up some of the mini archival inks. They're awesome for small sentiments.

While the stamp was out I stamped a second image again on hot press watercolour.  the second is a little less CAS with lots of smooshing of Distress Oxide inks and a black border.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Impression Obsession, Paper Smooches sentiment
Paper: Hot press watercolour, Red, 110Lb White, Black
Ink: Ranger Archival,
Accessories: MISTI, Watercolours
Techniques: Watercolouring,splattering, smoosing

Love this one! (well, both!) The CAS is just beautiful, and of course I love the smooshed background. The CAS lets the bird shine out perched on the colorful holly, but #2 looks awesome - like the bird is sort perched inside the branches of a tree. I love the tiny cubes & have been collecting some too. Easier to use when inking a small space. TFS & have a great weekend.

I love the CAS design for your 1st chickadee and your beautiful watercolouring. But your 2nd chickadee also is beautiful with all the depth you added with the smooshed background even though not as CAS. TFS both your cards, Christine. Hugs..

Love this sweet image! Beautifully watercoloured! And equally great, whether CAS with just a splatter or less CAS with the complex smooshed background.

I am in awe of your outstanding water coloring on your chickadee. Your backgrounds, both of them are wonderful! I'm such a fan of spattering. It never detracts from the artwork.

Great image and your watercolouring is beautiful. Both fabulous cards, but I must admit your second one caught my attention. The depth and texture of your smooshed background is amazing. xx

Hello Christine,
I have no idea how you did this miracle, but I look with delight and I can not take my eyes off this card. Both are so beautiful. The first card is more CAS, so I love it tremendously. But in the second card, despite the fact that the background is not CAS, it is stunning. Beautiful, multi-colored, like a bokeh effect in the photographer's perspective.
Hugs,
BozenA

Such a delicate and pretty image and so beautifully coloured on both of your cards. Love the CAS style on your first card with the tiny splats and yes love the sentiment stamped in the red too. Great smooshing on your second card, so artsy and so unique....absolutely gorgeous x

You watercolorred the pretty Chickadee and the holly so delicately and beautifully in both cards, Christine! I love both cards - the CAS card with the perfect black splatters, and the second card with smooshed background. The black framing and the sentiment are a great choice for the smooshed background. Hideko xx
