It's time for CAS Christmas Card challenge and this months theme is Poinsettia.
Come join our Guest Designer Marina of My Perfect Life and the rest of the Design team in creating some beautiful cards, I'm sure you could do with adding to your Christmas Card stash.
I pulled out my Pan pastels and Versamark for my background, and also used the Pan pastels for the die cut. The centre flowers are Viva Decor silver pearl pen.
I had a little oopsie on my first attempt at fixing the colour of the pan pastels on my die cut. I grabbed the wrong can and ended up spraying it with glue instead of fixative, straight into the garbage as it was one sticky mess.
That's what happens when you are in a hurry and don't check the can properly or perhaps I have too many cans on the shelf 😕
Lay down your Pan pastel colour, stamp the sentiment or image in Versamark and then go back over with Pan pastels. The sentiment really pops with colour.
Come join us in the fun, you have until the 26th of the month so lots of time.

It's beautiful, Christine. I bet you were sick when you saw the spray had messed up your work. Lovely shade of blue for that fabulous poinsettia. Great work with the pans too! TFS
LOL, that sounds like something I would do....Love the rich, blue background and how beautifully the sentiment stands out! Such a beautiful poinsettia to decorate the corner! Love how you've added a bit of green on the flower!
I just love how you chose non'traditional blue for your beautiful die cut poinsettia added your watercolor wash background. TFS my friend. Hugs...
That kind of things often happen to me when I'm in a hurry. The other day, I poured carrot juice over my cereal (instead of milk)! What was I thinking? ;-(
Joking aside, your pan pastel background and the blue poinsettia are so pretty! I've never used pan pastel but the Versamarked sentiment really pops with color, doesn't it? Very nice stenciled framing too! Hideko xx
You need to have your glue can in a different place! :) Yuck ... I can imagine the mess. :) LOVE the gorgeous blue of this pan pastel background. So pretty with the large sentiment and sweet layered poinsettia. Gorgeous design Christine! xx
What a sticky mess that must have been! Glad you re-did it as it is so pretty in that lovely shade of blue. Beautiful poinsettia too - a perfect addition to the bold sentiment.
I love the simplicity of this and the nontraditional blue poinsettia! You do come up with wonderful and unique techniques! I can so relate to grabbing the wrong can too. I recently finished a card and wanted to emboss in black so stamped in black and grabbed white embossing powder instead of clear. More for the garbage.
I have never used pan pastels but they do give such a wonderful effect on your beautiful card. Love the mini poinsettia in the blue x Sorry about spraying with the wrong can!
I sure hope to join in the fun this time. Busy summer. I've always admired the Pan Pastels for their softness. Just look at that pretty poinsettia! Love the little touch of green in it. I can imagine your dismay when you realized you'd grabbed the wrong can! These things happen. I stitched a card closed once, and another time I dipped my watercolor paint brush in my coffee cup. I saved the card, but threw out the coffee.
how pretty mf...love the blue of course and the way the edges of your framed sentiment look ragged
Have a great wknd.
x Karen
Oh that happens to the best of us. 😉 i’m unfamiliar with pan pastels, but your pan pastel background is wonderful. No surprise... love the colour (blue is my favourite)! Beautiful artsy Christmas card, Christine. x
A lovely new way to use my Pan Pastels that I hardly touch!! Your sentiment looks awesome against your beautiful background and I just love your pretty poinsettia in blue Christine! Julia xx
Love that blue poinsettia and it's matching background, Christine! Hugs!
Stunning !!! It would seem that for poinsettia the best color is red, but it is not true! Blue as it turned out is the best color for poinsettia! A wonderful background and an even more beautiful flower. Such a beautiful Christmas card, Christine !!!

How beautiful - I'd have never thought of doing it in blue but it looks great.
What a beautiful blue poinsettia, Christine! Love the silver center and how it looks so perfect on this beautiful pan pastel background!
