To honor the end of summer and the gentle slide into fall I have created a fall leaf watercolour card.
I stamped the leaf using Ranger Archival potting soil then pulled out my elegant writer and drew over some of the lines of the leaf, then with a watercolour brush I pulled the ink into the leaf. The black elegant writer ink separates into browns and blues when water is added. The background is Distress oxide inks on an acrylic block spritzed with water, the block was then placed on Hot press watercolour paper and weighted down to allow the colour to absorb. I popped up the watercolour background with foam to give it a little dimension.

I'd forgotten about the Elegant Writer - I must pull that out again. It certainly worked well for the autumn leaf. Love the background and the bit of text on it. When you weight the block down on the watercolour paper, how long do you leave it for?
just about 5 to 10 mins, it allows the colour to sink in.
Gorgeous card, love the background
Hugs Kaz xx
Spectacular fall background and your neutral colors are just fabulous! Love the way you colored your leaf, so true to life. I do not have an elegant writer but after seeing this, I'd love to get one. This is so beautifully done!
Very very nice card you created!!! Love those stunning fall colors that you choose. Henry
Wonderful acrylic block background, Christine. So cool that you used green and yellow as your hot and spicy colours. Beautiful fall leaf card. And I definitely don’t mind our Autumn weather. Thank you for joining us this week at Less is More.
What a beautiful fall leaf, Christine! I love the way the pen bled into the color! And the background is beautiful! I haven't tried using DOX with the acrylic block. I see I need to give it a try!
I love the look of the elegant writer. I really need to get one and have a play. This leave is gorgeous Christine. Love it on the autumn colour background. xx
Great technique, one for me to try, thank you x Great effect and a fabulous background x
Welcome back from Great Britain! I'm sure you had a lovely time there! Your leaf is beautiful against that watercolored panel Christine! Julia xx
This card is just beautiful. Love the spicy colors you choose! Thanks for sharing at Less is More!
Super card and a very unusual take on the hot and spicy colours with that added green. Such a beautiful leaf stamp too. Thanks for popping this in to us at Less is More xx
Simply beautiful Fall watercoloured leaf and DOX inks background. TFS Christine. Hugs..
That elegant tumbling leaf is fabulous against the DOX background, Christine ... such delicious autumn colours! Anita :)
Absolutely beautiful, I love all the autumnal colours you have used. I live on the east coast of the England where we have had a really long hot summer this year with virtually no rain for months and it is still very hot. I love Wales but it does always rain there!
That's a fabulous autumn leaf on a beautiful background xx
lovely card mf...we are also having a fantastic Fall here in Ontario. I welcome this weather as I can spend a lot of time outside with my kiddos.
xx Karen
