Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've posted life has just gotten too busy.
I now have a new laptop, which is a little bit of a learning curve for me as I've switched from a Windows based system to an Apple MacBook Air. My poor brain is going into a tail spin as everything I do I have to look up and re learn. As we all know old habits die hard 🤣
Also we were away visiting family and friends In eastern Canada or three weeks in July and came home to a tree fallen on our garage. Luckily it only damaged the guttering.
The tree has now been removed and the gutter replaced, The hot summers we have been having over the years caused the trunk to die, I must admit I'm not sad it's gone, it was a twisted willow which was just in the wrong place.
I'm finally back to card making and now just catching up with a past technique by the Group of Cardmakers. When I made mine I wanted to try Pastels on black card, I used Pan Pastels, Pastel Pencils and some Cheap Pastel chalks just to try them out. The pastels were blended in the same way as the inks in the videos below. The Northern Lights technique works well with die cuts using the silhouette images.
As you can see I had to use my Polar bear dies for this technique.
Different suggested ways to do the technique or try your own way!

Good to see you, Christine! Your varied examples of the Northern Lights technique are all terrific and good job adding to your Christmas stash! I'm so sorry about the tree falling. Even if it was preferred in the end, I'm sure it was a pain cleaning and repairing. Hugs, Darnell
It is hard teaching us old dogs new tricks, isn't it! You'll get the hang of it in no time. So sorry about the tree damage, glad damage was minimal. Fantastic cards today, Christine! I love the polar bears with the Northern Lights and then the way they light the sky for Santa!
Lovely northern lights cards, Chritine! So interesting to see them done with pastels instead of ink. Beautiful colours and great die cuts on top of them.
It's great to see you back creating cards again Christine. Great work with your Northern Lights cards ... they are all so beautiful. I love how the colours blended. I think I've only used Pan Pastels once and that was when you were over and you brought them. :) Looking forward to getting together for a play day soon! Love, Loll
Wowie, you're so good with any technique you touch! I especially love the polar bears with the lights. Heck of a thing to come home to. We've lost a few trees in recent years. It breaks my heart every time, but then I adjust and learn to make the most of it.
Great to see you back, love the Polar Bears and fabulous Northern lights background. Sorry about the tree but at least luckily the damage wasn't too bad. When my desk computer gave up the ghost I bought a chrome book-big mistake just couldn't do anything on it-son has it now and I have a little laptop but still can't adda watermark lol.

What a fabulous technique. Love the effect from the pan pastels. You have made me want to get mine out. They haven't been used in a very long time. So sorry about the tree trauma that you came home to, it must have been quite a shock when you arrive home, but I am glad the damage wasn't too bad xx
Glad you are back safely, Christine. Sorry about the tree. I'm glad it didn't do more damage. Your pastels worked fabulously for this technique! Four lovely winter themed cards!
Beautiful effects using the pastels Christine and the different polar bears and then the village scene with Santa in his sleigh all work brilliantly against the bright and pretty skies. x
Back in the day I started on an Apple and moved to Windows so I feel your pain! Those Northern Lights are beautiful. I want to try Pan Pastels and you have inspired me. I'm so sorry about the tree but thank goodness no one got hurt.
Once you switch to Mac, you’ll never go back! 🤣 I did it in 2012… best decision ever!
Great to see you creating cards again. Awesome set of northern light cards!
