Group of Seven Cardmakers - Dry Embossed Highlights Over Ink Blending

Hi everyone, the Group of Seven Cardmakers are highlighting some dry embossed backgrounds. We have a couple of videos that you can check out or just dive in with your embossing folders.

Videos:  Different suggested ways to do the technique
Embossing Folder Fun by Jo Simons (16:33)

My first card I blended some ink through a butterfly stencil (Magenta) embossed it with a 3D embossing folder (Simon Says Stamp) and highlighted the raised edges with white ink. I did notice the embossing picked up some black ink from a previous embossing technique I had done. I actually like the effect 😏

My second card I used red card stock placed with the edge out of the poinsettia embossing folder (Nellies Choice), I did this on both sides of the piece of card leaving a flat area in the middle. I swiped the raised areas with a Distress Oxide ink pad and placed the sentiment (BetterPress) in the middle.

My third card is the same embossing folder but using the debossed side and used white ink. This began as an oopsie but I kept it as I liked the look. The Sentiment is BetterPress.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Better Press Sentiments
Paper:  Stamping up Coloured card, 110lb White.
Ink: Distress Oxide, Archival (sentiments)
Accessories: Embossing folders. Magenta Stencil
Techniques: 3D Embossing, Highlight Embossing, Stenciled Embossing

All beautiful embossed cards but the first one with the butterfly is my favourite.

I just love the softly colored butterfly on your first design Christine! And what a fun technique with the sentiment strip in the middle of your pretty poinsettias - so pretty in both the red and the blue! So often an OOPS turns into a beauty! Julia xx

Three fantastic cards, Christine! I love that butterfly and the embossing folder! They go together beautifully and the bit of black landed in exactly the right spot! Love both poinsettia cards too! You sure turned that oops into a beauty!

Three beautiful cards Christine and such a lovely sized stencil for the butterfly in three pretty colours of ink, and it works well with the flowery EF, then such a bright red cardstock with the poinsettia EF and the light Distress Oxide highlights it perfectly, and a great idea to leave a flat strip to position the die cut sentiment over. The last one looks great in blue, and such a different look using the debossed side. x

Amazing cards Christine. LOVE your first card with the gorgeous butterfly stencil. The colours are so pretty together and the highlights stand out so well with white ink. Great idea to use coloured card stock for your second panel ... perfect for that beautiful poinsettia ef. I LOVE that you've left an area without embossing for your sentiment ... so creative. And the silver ink looks amazing on the red card. Finally, such a great idea to use the debossed side. Stunning colour for your background and again, the flat area for the sentiment is so cool. Love the white on top of this gorgeous deep turquoise. Amazing work!! xx
