Hi everyone the Group of Seven are using a little torn edge for this months technique/design element.
There are a few videos to give you ideas on how to use your torn edges and I hope you give this technique a try with us.

Card #1 is a scrap from my stash with and embossed background. I tore the card stock and and rubbed some black and brown inks over the edge to simulate burned paper.
Stamp used - Nellie Snellen Robin on a Berry Branch
Stencil - Lavinia
Embossing folder - Carabelle Studio (no longer in business)
Card # 2 is torn masking tape adhered to the card and distress inks blending between. This technique can be combined with stencils or stamps. I always love to use silhouette images with this technique.
Stamps Used - Magenta (14.634.O)
Card # 3 torn paper to create hills. I kept the colours quite pale but if you look carefully you will see lots of little snow drifts between the house and the trees.

Three pretty designs using different torn edge techniques Charistine! That 'burnt' edge is beautiful on your embossed panel. Your second CAS design is lovley with the shades of ink stripe and pretty silhouette florals and your soft landscape edges are beautiful around your wonderful cabin in the pines! Julia xx
Lovely cards using the torn edge, Chritine. LOVE the first one with the "burned" edge tear. So very creative. The texture from the embossed background adds so much to the design. I LOVE your stenciling with the bird over top ... amazing details to create a fabulous card. The masked tear with the ink blending and silhouette flower is a beautiful CAS design. And your last card is such a beautiful and peaceful winter scene. Great work on the snowhills to create lots of visual depth! xx
Three brilliant cards, Christine. Each of them so different from the others. I love the mountain landscape, this amazing silhouette of a wild flower and this beautiful card with a bird on a branch where you created such an amazing background.

Hi Christine..I Love how you were able to create 3 beautiful cards using 3 different interesting Torn Edge Technique cards All the textures on the burnt edge image with the sweet birdie in a branch image is so beautiful. Your 2nd card was a wonderful example of how to use a torn edge background for stamped silhouette flower images. Your 3rd Winter snow cabin and trees stamped scene is such a beauty, especially with the very soft blue ink blending. Ohhh, these three cards are all such lovely examples of using torn paper in your designs. Before dies and stencils we did that a lot. Now I use it mostly for masking as in your snow scene. I certainly do see all the subtle snowdrifts. Beautifully done, Christine! Really love the bird card with the gentle stenciling behind the image, and that torn edge looks layered the way you simulated the burn. Your second card gives me another idea to add to my folder. I've used masking tape plenty, but never torn quite like this. I love the look and, of course, that beautiful stamp. Wishing you a happy new year. Three really stunning cards. Inking the edge of the tear on the first one has given it such wonderful depth, I had to look really carefully to see what you had done. Stunning. I can also see how using a torn edge can create an amazing scene and enhance a simple blend and silhouette stamping. I think I am going to have to have a go. These are really inspiring. Thank you xx
Three great cards, Christine! Excellent demonstrations of different torn edge techniques. Love the way you created the look of burnt paper on the first one. The colours in the second one are so soft and appealing, and you chose one of my favourite stamps to put on top of it. The third is a perfect winter scene with lovely soft snow hills.

These are wonderful cards using torn edge, Christine. I love the stenciling behind the bird. Each card is unique and all are just beautiful.
I love the layers and subtle stenciling on the first card that make it look like a 3D woodland scene! The torn edges make the inked strip so interesting and a perfect place for the silhouette! I love how the torn edges give the feeling of a mountain retreat on the last card! All three are so different and equally fantastic! Happy New Year, my friend!
Three beautiful cards Christine, and I love your sweet bird on the pretty berry branch and with some wonderful stencilling in the background and such a great look torn to reveal the inky embossed script beneath, and then the second with the wonderful silhouette flowers over the strip made using torn masking tape, and lastly the pretty snowy scene with the torn shape for the softly ink blended hills. x
I always love to see what you do with these techniques and you never disappoint. Your creativity is out of this world. I particularly love the last card but all three are fantastic. Beautiful sponging on all of them.
I love all three of your torn edge cards but most especially the middle one with the pretty silhouette flowers. Great inspiration.
