Layered Stencilling

I finally managed to get some time in my craft room. I've been on vacation for a week and my plans of doing lots of crafting just fell apart and I ended up in the garden instead. This wasn't a bad thing, my project of demolishing an old vegetable garden and installing 4 new 4X4 boxes took a lot longer than I expected. So when I did get into my craft room here's what I came up with.

I used my Gelli plate and Deli paper for the first layer, Distress Oxides for my second and Black Soot Distress ink for my third. I struggled with the frame and decided to use an old spellbinders deckled edge rectangle so I could fit a larger sentiment in.
The Deli paper gives such a soft effect, it mutes the colours slightly.

Here's a close up of the stencil layering.

I'm entering this for the following Challenges -

Card Recipe
Stamps: Magenta
Paper: Deli paper, 110lb white
Ink: Distress Oxide, Distress Inks
Accessories: Stencils (Magenta), acrylic paint, Gelli Plate
Techniques: Stencilling, Gelli Plate printing

I love your muted colors that you achieved by using the deli paper. Wonderful sentiment. I wish there were more vertical sentiment stamps out there...TFS and joining us at CAS Stencil. Your garden boxes project sounded wonderful. TFS. Love and Hugs...Nancy

Such a fabulous card! Love the deli paper and the soft effect it gives. Such a great selection of stencils to layer! You might not have got as much crafting done as you hoped to, but your new vegetable boxes were really worth the time!

AMAZING card with your layered stenciling Christine! Love the soft deli, geli print (like that!). So pretty with the two layers of stenciling over top. Those birds are so beautiful! It's great that you got a big garden project out of the way, but that doesn't sound like much of a vacation! :) Take care! xx

This is one of my favorite cards you've made. I just love the soft colors and the black against it. The Spellbinder frame really shows it off.

What a superb example of layered stencilling and you have used a gel plate again. Whenever I see one of your cards I think I must get mine out more often. I love the colours you have chosen too, they help each layer stand out with its own definition. Thanks for joining us at CAS stencil this month xx

You are a master at layering! Love that background. What an eye catcher that is and the black stencil over the top look wonderful! This is beautifully composed and I still have not got some deli paper! Love that idea.

This is so pretty, Christine! I now know how wonderful your gelli print on Deli paper because I received one. :-)
The layered stencils are so beautiful and they worked so well in terms of colors and design. Love the good balance between the frame and the vertical sentiment!
I'm sure your new garden boxes will give you a lot of pleasure in the near future!

Wow! That's some fabulous stencil layering! Really gorgeous, Christine. I adore the birds. Spring gardening has been claiming a lot of my time, too. The last three days we worked on the hedge (I raked and hauled leaves), but today I spent mostly in my room. Nice for a change. There's lots more gardening to do yet!

Two beautiful cards Christine, this and the last post using this deli paper and your gelli plate and the pretty birds with the layers of inking a really beautiful look. I have never heard of this before but have read that it is like tissue paper but stronger and less likely to stick together when wet. I must look out for some. x

I was hoping for a leeeetle more detail on the process, Christine, but I think I get it. (If we hadn't had the retreat, I wouldn't have!) Thank you again for giving it to me. It's even more gorgeous in real life!! xxoo, Darnell
