CAS Christmas Card Challenge

Hi everyone it's time for CAS Christmas card challenge and this month is CAS Christmas 2nd Birthday so if you play along there are Prizes to be won.

Prizes:
Winner - $25 GC to Simon Says Stamp
Random Draw from eligible entries - $25 GC to Simon Says Stamp

Colleen is our host this month and she wants us to create some cards with winter flower

The CAS Christmas team and our Gueast Designer is Linda (scrappinstampinsingin) all hope you play along.

Her is my card for the challenge.
I stamped the splatter circle background in Hero arts white on black  Mixed Media card stock heat set the ink. I then stamped the poinsettia in Ranger archival and coloured it with a mix of Pearlex and Gum Arabica. The red picked up some white ink and made the poinsettia a little pink so I let it dry and painted over it. I re stamped the flower and sentiment in Versafine Clair Nocturn and heat embossed in clear embossing powder and added some gold liquid pearls to the centre of the flowers.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Recollections Poinsettia and sentiment, Inkilicious splatter circle stamp
Paper: 110lb white, Black Mixed Media
Ink: Hero arts white, Versafine Clair Nocturn
Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder
Techniques: Pearlex and Gum Arabica colouring

Great design as if your flower was emerging from the abyss. I love the way you combined both stamps.

Love the way you used the splatter circle background and then stamped the poinsettia to fit its curve! Great painting with the pearl ex and gum arabic - I must try that!

Very cool techniques and look on this, Christine. I always learn so much from you! I got some Magenta stencils a few days ago and I love them. I did some BAJ pages with them yesterday. I will be getting some more! Thanks for always inspiring me! Hugz

I would never think to do something like this and never heard of coloring with gum Arabic but what a fabulous effect of the white on black. What an unusual and wonderful technique. The visual effect is just amazing. My first thought at seeing this card is. “How’d she do that?” Your ideas are so fresh and creative so thank you for sharing!

Wow! That white splatter on the black really grabs you right away. What a great design and gorgeous coloring. The gold liquid pearls are a perfect center and they really shine.

This is striking! That circle splatter background is so cool. And so is painting with pearl ex and gum arabica (not familiar with this). Would love to give it a try.

I'm full of admiration for anyone who can get in the Christmas spirit when it's not December... and you've definitely done that. I love the snowy splattered circle against the black background, and the colouring on the poinsettia is great.

This is really a moving design and I love it, Christine! The way you've stamped the poinsettia gives the illusion of a sphere! Super cool in every way and I can just imagine the texture and shine IRL!! Hugs, Darnell

This is gorgeous, Christine! It looks like the poinsettia peeking from a snowy window. Re-stamping and clear-heat embossing gives the flower and the sentiment definition. Wonderful technique and beautiful results!

What wonderful contrast with the white splatter circle against the black Christine, and also that pretty bright red poinsettia with the wonderful gold liquid pearls in the centre. A bright and pretty seasonal card. x
