Another Crafty Day

This card is from last weekends get together with crafty friends Loll, Susan and Trina (my crafting closet),  We were trying the this technique which uses Gesso and Distress Oxide inks which was introduced to us by Susan from a blog called Country View Crafts. Of course any techniques using DOX is a must try as we all love the effect you get with them.  We miss read the instructions, not surprising because chatting, laughing and crafting make your brain go fuzzy 😏

Susan has a great example on her blog comparing what we did and what we should have done with the technique so I won't go into too much detail.  This is definitely on my to do list on another day the next time following the instructions more carefully.

For my background I used vintage photo, fossilized amber and a little broken china.  I used my craft mat to add some ink of the pad and spritzed with water, I tapped my mixed media card stock on the craft mat to pick up the colour and heat dried between layers.  Once got the depth of colour I then painted some watered down gesso over the DOX inks and dried it with a heat gun.   I used a penny black stamp which I used a direct to stamp technique with the DOX ink pads (picked raspberry and peeled paint) and spitzed with water.  This is nothing like it was supposed to look like but I love, the background looks very vintage and the water caused the DOX inks on the flowers to pool.  I distressed the edges and mounted the card on an A2 background.
