What a beautiful fall Vancouver is getting

Hi everyone, I think I missed the reminder about the end of the summer, here in Vancouver the sun won't go away, can you believe it in October it's still sunny.  I was in the UK recently and it was they typical rain, sun , and wind.  Good Welsh weather 😉
To honor the end of summer and the gentle slide into fall I have created a fall leaf watercolour card.
I stamped the leaf using Ranger Archival potting soil then pulled out my elegant writer and drew over some of the lines of the leaf, then with a watercolour brush I pulled the ink into the leaf. The black elegant writer ink separates into browns and blues when water is added. The background is Distress oxide inks on an acrylic block spritzed with water, the block was then placed on Hot press watercolour paper and weighted down to allow the colour to absorb.  I popped up the watercolour background with foam to give it a little dimension.

Now for my card I used some watercolour tissue paper I had left over from a crafty get together a little while a ago.  This one had some great flecks of gold from Delicata gold ink and Distress oxide inks mixed in.  I adhered the tissue paper to card stock and die cut it with an octagonal stitched die. The leaves were die cut from foil duct tape stuck to card and the Alcohol inks were dripped over the the leaves to give them a nice autumn look, once dry I glued them to the card.

CAS Watercolour September Mid Month Reminder

Hi everyone, the middle of September came around so quickly, now I'm wondering where did the summer go 😊.
Here is my reminder card for CAS watercolour Silhouettes.  Pop by and check out the design teams awesome work and our guest designer Birgit Edblom or Biggan as she is known at Split Coast Stampers.
Silhouettes make for quick and easy cards when you have some backgrounds available.  This one is a selection of blue distress oxide inks on a craft mat and spritzed with water.  The mixed media paper is smooshed onto the craft mat and dried between each layer.  I used this great Memory box silhouette stamp and some white Stampendous frantage embossing enamel for the snow.  I used the Memory Box Sheer circle edge die to follow the snow drifts.

Craft Stampers Guest Designer

Most of you know that in July I won Craft Stampers monthly challenge. The prize is profile on their blog, a guest designer place and a two page spread in their monthly magazine which is due out in November.
This is the card I submitted as a Guest Designer. I had so much fun playing with Distress Oxide inks and embossing paste and stamps, it seemed so fitting to use this great stamp by Viva Las Vegas with the mason jar with the paint brushes.

Jellyfish Birthday wishes

I just purchased a new stamp set by Visible Image called Dare to Swim, I love underwater images so the jellyfish really caught my eye.
I taped my watercolour paper to a cutting mat and masked off the edges, for me this is a little hit or miss because often the water colour seeps under the tape. I painted an ombre  watercolour wash background using my Peerless watercolour book using two blues one darker than the other. I stamped the jellyfish and coloured the hood using a black promarker and added a white line for the reflection.  I used the Altnew halftone stencil with platinium inka gold to add very subtle circles over the watercoloured area.  I added the silhouette fish swimming along the bottom of the card and used a Happy Birthday sentiment from Purple Onion. (I think they may have discontinued this one).  Finally I added some clear sequins to represent bubbles.

CAS Watercolour September Challenge- Silhouettes

This months theme for CAS Watercolour challenge is to use a Silhouette with your watercolour.  I love silhouette stamps they pack such a punch against a colourful background.  Your silhouettes can be either die cut or stamped images, I'm sure you have something, so come on by and play.

For my card I used some of my watercolour tissue paper I made a few weeks ago adhered it to card stock using some 3 M spray adhesive and then stamped with a crows on a branch stamp from Katzelkraft.  I used a hexagon die to cut out the image and then again with a  hexagon die for the frame.

CAS Watercolour Mid Month Reminder for August Salty backgrounds

It's time again for CAS Watercolour mid month reminder to use salt in your watercolour.  One thing I realised about salt backgrounds is that they make awesome Christmas backgrounds when blue or silver water colour is used.  They look really cold and crystally (not a real word but describes it perfectly),
For this card I use blue watercolour on watercolour paper.  I taped the watercolour paper down to prevent it warping and used a large brush to add water to the card then added the colour.  Once I had enough colour one I sprinkled regular table salt over it.  I left it overnight for it to dry completely.  After it dried I scraped off the salt with a plastic card.
I used the Stamplorations Let it snow die cut twice, once in salted watercolour card and once in black foam to pop it up and give a little shadow behind. The Simon Says Stamp Payton ornament die was cut in the salted watercolour card and backed with silver.

Alcohol inks and blending solution

I've been playing with some Alcohol inks on Yupo by mixing colours and adding blender solution.
I love the bubbly effect I got when I spritzed the Yupo with blender solution, it reminded me of water so I added my jelly fish stamp from Viva Las Vegas.

Salted Sky

CAS Watercolour Challenge for this month is Salted background, so much fun to try if you've never done it.  The challenge has a few links for you to follow if you need some instructions but basically you throw salt (any type) one very wet watercolour and wait and see what happens.  The tough part is the waiting because it has to completely dry before you brush/scrape off the salt.

Alcohol inks on Yupo

Now I see this on the computer I wish I'd used a less textured card stock.  I used a linen card as the background for the flowers. The texture caused some striations in my solid fairy stamp.  Oh well something to remember next time 😏
My flowers are a Dee's Distinctley die with the heads being cut out of Yupo with alcohol inks, I first cut the whole flowers in watercolour card and watercoloured the stems.  I then cut the flower heads again in the Yupo and attached them to the watercolour paper.  The background, sentiment  and Fairy is stamped in Delicata Gold ink.  The background is from Technique Junkies, the Fairy is from Ali Express, and the sentiment is from Tim Holtz.
